Dubai - A safe haven for rapists

As a woman i shudder to think what it would be like for me to go through a rape situation here in Dubai. Already, in an normal country women find it difficult to report a rape case, throw in a rule that says its illegal to have sex outside of marriage - then you have a million petrified women fearful of the law.

There is always a story in the paper that describes how a woman has been charged for illegally having sex, after she approached the police to report a rape case. As dubious as some of these situations maybe, i still believe, as a woman, your integrity is put on the line - especially when it is a sexual matter.

One case i recall argued that there is no way the man could have raped the woman as she was 3 times his size. Understandable, but imagine, psychologically what that woman must have been going through at the point in time. You cease to exist, have an outer body experience just to escape it. The court found the man innocent of rape and guilty of illegal sex. So they did have sex, but consensual?
